The Lean Manufacturing implementation process in a motorcycle industry settled in a Free Trade Zone - Brazil: A case study
Descrição
ABSTRACT
The globalization and consolidation of multinational companies results in an increase in competition among factories within the same business group. Facilities always need to reach the excellence level, meeting the world-class manufacturing standards, optimizing re-sources and reducing its operational cost. In this context, the Lean Manufacturing arises, which, by systematically attacking the wastes in the process, seeks to maximize operational efficiency, therefore, has been shown as a very successful option in the globalized competition. In this way, the objective of this study is to show the benefits of the Lean Manufacturing implantation in a motorcycle manufacturer company settled in Brazil. The case study methodology was used, guided by the PDCA tool. A multidisciplinary group was organized, and the lean maturity level was determined by the SAE J4000 standard. The research is finished with a review of the results achieved such as: production output increased by 55% and OEE of 81.2%.
Keywords: Brazil; Lean Manufacturing; Kaizen; Waste management; Lean production; PDCA
